Accu-Metrics / Viaguard will send you at no cost complete sample collection kits containing instructions to obtain buccal (cells inside the cheek) swabs from all dogs to be tested. When samples are returned to our lab for analysis a fee of $38.00/per sample is submitted by cheque or credit card using the form enclosed in our kits. Samples usually consist of one from the sire, one from the dam and one from each of the pups. For example, if there were four pups, we require one sire and one dam sample, and one from each pup.
Results are available in about 10 business days and will be e-mail or mailed as per your instructions.
When parentage has been determined an 8 ½ x11 frameable certificate (see illustration) which includes a photo of each pup can be sent to you listing: the parentage and DNA profile of the dam, sire and pup(s). This certificate can be given to the purchaser of the pup the cost is $9.00 for each personalized certificate.
Comparison of the DNA profile of the dam, sire and pup(s) will yield with 99.999% accuracy whether the pup(s) are from the tested dam and sire.
If a sample from the dam is not available the parentage DNA test can be done with a sample from the sire and the pup(s). It is possible to have puppies from different sires in the same litter, thus we suggest testing several pups from the same litter for each sire tested. Dogs of any breed and age can be tested.
For convenience purposes we suggest breeders keep a supply of our no cost sample collection kits on hand. Each kit contains sufficient test supplies for 5 dogs (sire, dam and three pups).
