The Viaguard instant one step saliva test strip is a rapid method for precise determination of blood alcohol levels. The test is based on the specificity of alcohol oxidase (ALOx) for Ethyl Alcohol. The pad end of the mini test strip is inserted under the tongue for about 20 seconds, allowing it to be saturated with saliva, then withdrawn. The colour that indicates blood alcohol levels develops in 30-60 seconds. The strip can only be used once. The test is most effective if no food or tobacco are in the mouth for at least 5 minutes prior to testing. The test is 99% sensitive for alcohol consumed in the preceding 3 hours. Note-blood levels will decrease about 0.01 % every additional forty minutes.
